Desktop App Guides

Download the installer for your operating system from the download section above.

Run the installer. On macOS, drag the app to your Applications folder. On Windows, follow the setup wizard. On Linux, make the AppImage executable and run it.

Launch Yout Desktop. The app will automatically download the format shifting engine on first run.

Optional: Log in with your Yout.com account to unlock Pro or Ultra features.

Copy the URL of the video or audio you want to format shift.

Paste the URL into the input field in Yout Desktop, or let clipboard monitoring detect it automatically.

Select your desired audio format (MP3, FLAC, WAV, AAC, OGG, M4A, WMA, OPUS, or AIFF).

Choose the quality level. Free users get up to 128kbps. Pro/Ultra users can select up to 320kbps or best available.

Click Go. The file will be saved to your configured download folder.

Copy the URL of the video you want to format shift.

Paste the URL into Yout Desktop.

Select your desired video format (MP4, WebM, MKV, AVI, MOV, FLV, or 3GP).

Choose the resolution. Free users get up to 360p. Pro/Ultra users can select up to 8K or best available.

Click Go. Video format shifts may take longer depending on file size and resolution.

Enable clipboard monitoring in the app settings or by clicking the clipboard icon.

Set your preferred default format and quality in settings.

Copy any supported URL from your browser or any other app. Yout Desktop will detect it and start the format shift automatically.

Copy a playlist URL (e.g. a YouTube playlist link) and paste it into Yout Desktop.

The app will detect the playlist and show all available items.

Pro users: select individual items to format shift one at a time. Ultra users: click 'Shift All' to batch process the entire playlist.

Instead of pasting a URL, type a search term into the input field.

Yout Desktop will search across supported platforms and show matching results.

Select the result you want and proceed with format shifting as usual.

Click the account icon or go to Settings > Account.

Enter your Yout.com email and password.

Once logged in, your subscription tier is applied automatically. Pro and Ultra features are unlocked immediately.

Go to Settings > Download Location.

Click Browse and select your preferred folder.

All future format shifted files will be saved to this location.
